Posters calling for an Israeli return to the Gaza Strip were hung in central Jerusalem on Sunday, along the route to the Knesset. Eighteen years after Israel dismantled the Gush Katif bloc of settlements, removed all their civilian residents, withdrew the IDF and "disengaged" from the Gaza Strip to the pre-1967 lines, there are those who want to resettle there courtesy of the terrible war that was thrust upon them. Speakers and lobbyists will find a listening ear among politicians and those who control the budget. US President Joe Biden and other heads of state have expressed support for Israel in its campaign to eliminate Hamas, but have asked for an exit strategy. The most discussed option is to transfer the Strip to the Palestinian Authority, but this is already prompting opposition. Another scenario speaks of a complete disengagement from Gaza, while Energy Minister Israel Katz proposed years ago that a large artificial island be built off the coast of Gaza. A senior political source spoke on Sunday about the possibility of an international force taking over control of the Strip.
